Some time ago I had the chance to visit Fukushima Prefecture and it was a good experience. After reading all the news it was good to get a feeling for the area and to meet people living there and hear directly from them about last years disaster. My impression was also that they were happy to see people coming. I would therefore like to encourage others to go and get a better understanding of what has happened and what it means to the people there.

Here is an opportunity to join a weekend tour by eco-tourism travel organizer Reborn Inc., a company I have worked together with many times. Most tour participants will be Japanese but if you wish to join and don’t speak Japanese I will help with interpretation.

The tour goes to Iwaki in the south part of Fukushima prefecture, an area that did not get so much radioactive contamination. Iwaki is a city of 300 000 people but we will also go on to the village of Tono-machi. For participants to feel safe, the tour organizer will measure radiation in the places we visit.

We will be travelling in an eco-friendly bio-diesel bus and the concept of this tour is to participate in some work as volunteers. Participants will join in farm work planting organic cotton.
